Looking for Phylis Carter or descendents

Kelly Report 17 Oct 2008 21:05

My husband's grandmother was a twin and adopted out. Her name was Lily b. 11 June 1916 and her parents were Edward CARTER and Eleanor ATTFIELD. She was raised by the TARBOX family.

At some point her twin Phyllis found out about Lily and went to look for her at her workplace. Unfortunately Lily was not there at the time and the 2 never met. It was the first Lily knew of her twin.

Lily married John THOMPSON in Jan 1943 and they had 3 children. The oldest, Anne was born in England and then others in New Zealand after they moved here.

My mother in law has tried to find info about Lily's birth family and her twin but so far we have had no luck. Unfortunately I have no details regarding a marriage or children for Phyllis.

Anyone related to Phyllis that could shed a bit of light on the situation or would just like to know Lily's family - please get in touch. We would love to hear from you.

Kind Regards
Kelly

Hello Kelly,

I have this family in my husbands tree. The info I have you may have already.

He was a sargent in 7th Middlesex Regiment during W.W.1.
It is thought that he may have died in WWI which is why the girls were adopted out but this has not been confirmed.
(http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documentsonline.....) An Edward Gager Carter of (corps) Middlesex Regiment (reg. no.) 200412 (rank) sergeant Date 1914-1920, Catalogue reference WO 372/24 Medal card Image Ref 87343/3526 .

Please let me know if this helps. If you want to contact me via Genes I will give you access to my tree.
