Up for solving a mystery? Need help in finding parents and siblings of Thomas Carter, my ggg grandfather.

I have found the following in census:
1841 - a butcher living in Church St, Fleetwood, with wife Ann and 10 children
1851 - a butcher living Dock St, Fleetwood with Anne and 4 children, place of birth is Ratteley
1861 - a butcher living 15 Dock St, with Ann and 4 kids, POB is Moor Hall this time. He died in 1870.

Problem is I don't know where either of the 2 places are, so can't even begin to start looking for relatives. All his children were born in Garstang, which i think is near Preston

Any help with this would be really appreciated.

Garstang, Fleetwood, Poulton are all in the same area the only Moor Hall is near Barnoldswick Lancashire.
www.streetmap.co.uk will give you the details.

Can't find Ratteley, but there were 3 Moor Halls according to genuki website. 1 just outside Ulverston, 1 NW of Preston and 1 SE of Bury.

Don't know if this ties in with the dates of his children, but LDS has a marriage in Poulton Le Fylde 14/6/1821 to Ann Abram. His occupation was a Husbandman at the time.

As you are researching Lancashire, are you aware of these two sites:

http://www.lan-opc.org.uk/indexp.html

The marriage Julie found is on there, with a little more info:

Marriage: 14 Jun 1821 St Chad, Poulton-le-Fylde, Lancashire, England
Thomas Carter - Husbandman of this Parish
Anne Abram - Spinster of this Parish
Witness: Ebram Abram; Mary Carter
Married by Licence by: R. Bowness
Register: Marriages 1813 - 1834, Page 82, Entry 246
Source: LDS Film 1526408

Also,

http://lancashirebmd.org.uk/

not complete for the county but ties up both partners in marriages and, for some areas, shows mother's maiden name before 1911.

ooh, that really does help - with the Abram side, which I've not yet started
looks like Ebram Abram was Anne's brother
found a marriage for him to Mary Carter, poss Thomas' sister
also same day Robert Carter (another sibling?) to Betty Bell

thanks again
