Could anyone please help . Looking for inffo on James Carter b abt 1855>1861.HE RECORDED IN 1881 census whitehaven Cumbrea but nothing after that i can not find. He had a daughter Maria Carter who Married Samuel Kay. The address on the 1881 census 10 Cheap Street. Think James Wife was Jane. Poss Son John Carter. Any inffo on the were abouts after 1881 and the family of James and Jane ( Her Madan name too) Anythig to this would be a great help. James sibs and his Mother and Father also Janes much appresiated

Seems funny nothing for them after 1881 census

looking at the original image they were all born in Leeds but I cannot find them after

Don't quite understand.
You say you've found him in 1881 living at 10 Cheap Street. So I assume this is NOT the entry you are referring to.
Although there is a daughter Maria.
His age would also appear to be 4 years out from your original 1855 - which you say you also got from 1881 census.!

If you order a copy of Maria's marriage cert it should say whether her father was deceased or not and his occupation

Thank you forthat inffo great .It tells me such o lot . I sent for a copy of Maria and Samuel Marrage Cert . Marrage Sept 5th 1892 James Carter is alive and kicking at this time. Boiler Maker living at 10 Cheap Street.
So Janes death was young? 1887. Down rf James death 1887 that can not be him ????1887 . All the other inffo seems to fit. Maria was my Great Grandma. Just a little confused over the deaths .

It was only a poss death for James, the address you have on the marriage cert would be Maria's and she may not have been living at home at the time. Was James a witness? if not they may have forgot to put deceased, just a thought

James was not a witness to the marrage of Maria.Would they have still put his name and occupation down if he was deceased ? Sorry to the other question, i was wrong on the 1881 census the address was 37 chaple st. Cheap st was on the Marrage cert.
