The family of WILLIAM HENRY CARTER and his wife, ADA (maiden surname unknown). I am looking for information re this family. They lived in the Lakenheath, Suffolk area in the 1950s and William worked at the chicory factory in the town. I have also been told that prior to him meeting Ada, he served in the US Army, although he wasn't a US citizen. They had two children - JOYCE (b. 1931) and WILLIAM. Joyce is my mother, but unfortunately, she died before I starterd researching my family history and my father can't remember too much information about them. I believe that my grandfather, WILLIAM, may well have lived until about 1953, as I have a photo of him, my mum and my sister, who looked about 3 in the picture. William and Ada are known to have lived for a time at Sharps (or possibly Sharpers) Corner, Lakenheath and I also know that he had an accident at the chicory factory, where he lost the fingers on his right hand. My mum and dad settled in Fife, Scotland after their marriage and at some point, I believe after my grandfather's death, my grandmother settled nearby until her death in about 1983. My mother died in 1981. Can anyone help me get past this brick wall? Kay. |
