Eileen Mary

Eileen Mary Report 28 Dec 2005 10:33

My grandfather, Thomas Carter, was born in Ireland in either County Cork or County Clare, Wexford. He came out to Australia with his brother. He married Honorah Kennedy (relative of Joseph Kennedy, father of John F. Kennedy, President of the USA). They had 7 seven sons and 4 daughters, named James, Thomas, John (Jack), Harry, William (Billy), Edward (Ted) Frank and Margaret (Maggie), Mary, Kathleen and Annie. They moved to a farm in Mirboo North, Gippsland, Victoria, Australia and Thomas (my grandfather) became the Shire President of the Council. He invented a cream separator. My father, Thomas Francis Carter, worked the farm until 1914=1918 War and joined up as a Light Horseman and went to Egypt, England, etc. He re=joined the army again in 1940 for the second World War. He became a TPI as, in the 1st World War, he was gassed and he suffered with bad lungs. He married my mother Eileen May Murphy (known as May) and had six children - Thomas Francis Jnr, Francis Joseph (dec), Brian Benedict (dec), Kevin James Kennedy (dec) and my sister Kathleen Allen (nee Carter). I married Peter McIntyre in 1987 but had been previously married to Graham Attwood with whom I had five children - Kevin, Noeleen, twins Philip and Robyn and Paul. I have 14 grandchildren, one newly acquired step=grandson and 3 stepchildren.
