My Grandfather's mother--Mary Ann Stuckey, living in Ottery ST Mary.was at the age of 16 made pregnant and gave birth to a son , in 1864 ,who she named Edward Carter Stuckey. Carter is a name that had not until then appeared in our family, and it has been suggested to me that ,Carter might have been the fathers name.Does any one out there have a Carter in their tree that was living in that area, that might be the 'naughty boy'!!??.The strange thing is ,that after the birth,Mary Ann disappeared and my Grandfather was raised by his grandparents.Do you have a Carter who took a young bride from Ottery--Mary Ann Stuckey--but did1nt take her son?. |
