I'm asking this on behalf of a good friend

Hi everyone,
I'm asking this on behalf of a good friend- she’s emailed me as below;

I am looking for more info on Catherine Knighton born 1794 and died 14 June 1861.
She was married to my ggggg grandfather John Shorthose & I want to find out more about who her parents were. We are talking about a village called Cotmanhay or Shipley or Heanor near Ilkeston on the Derby/Notts border. There were and still are hundreds of Knightons in the same area but I cannot find this elusive Catherine. Even their next door neighbours in Church Street were Knightons if you look on the Census but I cannot pin her roots down at all. I was wondering if you knew how to get a possible marriage certificate. They were married 19 July 1824-the date of the marriage is written on a family tree which I was sent by a relative about 40 years ago and every bit of it has turned out to be extremely accurate so I have no reason to believe it is not true.

I can only think of parish records as her next course of action, any other ideas??
Thanks in advance for any suggestions
