I am trying to trace my great grandfather Charles Clark born Epworth abt1832

My gradfather was George Henry Clark born 16th Aug 1916
his birth cert shows father Charles Clark retired Coal Merchant
mother Alice Taylor of 28 Eastfield Road, Louth

I have possible marriage cert for them 1907 which shows
her father as John Henry Taylor farm forman
his father as George Clark Farm lab dec
The ages on cert are a bit confusing it shows Charles as 70 and Alice as 20

I have found in 1901 census a Charles Clark married to Fanny Clark at 28 Eastfield Road so I would assume he was married before

I think I have a death for Fanny in 1906 a/m/j 7a 327 aged 62 but in 1901 census she was 59 but this still could be her

I cannot find anything for 1891 backward to see if Charles had other children which for family members they think my grandad had elder step brothers and sisters

Please can anyone help me

My first thought is that there is a generation missing.

Charles born 1832 fathered a child in 1916 ? Not impossible but is that really the case

This is what I thought at first because he would be very old the address is correct on the 1901 census and the birth certificate for George his mother Alice is ok and I have some of her family
I wonder if he had a son Charles also and this is where the confusion is or if he just put his name down as the father so it looked better, I am just so confused with it all
