how do i find GWR records

how do i go about finding records of a station master james clark at newhaven around 1900??? sussex i am new at all of this and havent got a clue where to look with out having to pay for it can any one help

Hes my great grand father so just trying to find out anything about him how long he worked there for if theres any photos of him at any railway museums anything at all about him and to go back further

Have a look at the Nat. Archives records for raiway staff and the like.

If you're a bit out in your time frame, and James didn't become a station master until the 1920s, then this record bears looking at.
