Hi all,

Trying to find the birth record for Richard Clark who was born in Lambeth, London circa 1840 according to census records.

Only other information I have is that his Fathers name was William, posted on Richard's marriage certificate. Richard married Mary Ann Bryant in 1860 at Westminster, London.

William Bryant's occupation at the time of Richards marriage was given as 'Baker'.

Any help please?

Kind regards, Gordon.

Glitter,

The marriage certificate for Richard, gives father William as 'Baker' not deceased.

Assume the second 1861 census you listed is the 1851 from Richard's age. That census is the most likely one I've found, but doesn't get closer to Richard's birth certificate which is what I'm searching.

Kind regards, Gordon.

Gordon if you look at the info given on the 1841 census when the family are living at Granby Street, it states that richard is 11 months so presume born July 1840 as the 1841 census was taken the night of 6th June, as Glitter Babe says there were no penalties for not registering a birth, so maybe you should be looking at baptism records..........try putting a request on the Records Office Board for a Ancestry Baptism look up........you may get lucky!

Ann,

Same as Glitter, I found the possible 1851 and 1861 census records, but I've not found an 1841? Could you provide more details on that please.

Regards, Gordon.

Hi Gordon,

Not sure if I have the right family now just noticed there are 2 x 1861 on thread. All the same I would put a baptism request on the board as there are lots of new London records on Ancestry.
