I am trying to find any details of the parentage, siblings of a William Clark. William was born c1833 in West Ham. He married a Elizabeth Blanks on 8 May 1853 in Bethnal Green. The marriage register gives his father's name as George Clark. I am unable to find any details of him on the 1841 or 1851 censuses. Please can anyone help. Thank you.

There is a William clark born 1831 in Westham, Essex on the 1851 census living a 7, Bell Court, Saint Dunstans Stepney. It shows him married to a Mary Ann Clark aged 29 from Ireland. It gives Williams occupation as General Labourer which would be right and I found details of a marriage for William Clark to a Mary Ann Allen (nee Laurence) on 7th March 1847 in Southwark. This gives his father's name as George Clark (labourer). Could this be the same William even though the marriage to Elizabeth Blanks shows William as being a Batchelor? I have found a William Clark on the 1841 census which gives his age as 11 years , parents names George Clark and Jane Clark. They are living in Stepney. Can't see any details of where he was born though. Could this be the right family?

It very well may be as 1941 has him born out of the county of Middlesex and he was born Essex and along with father George it looks even better.

Him saying Bachelor on marriage to Elizabeth Blanks does not mean much,so many people told fibs on their marriage certs that it would not be that unusual.
Especially if there were no children born to the first marriage.

I do not see Mary Ann Clark born Ireland on 1861 with William.

Many thanks Fanny by Gaslight for information re William Clark's family. Sorry for delay in posting a response. My Computer has been down! The details on 1841 census look very promising.

With reference to parentage and siblings of William Clark. I have now purchased birth certificate for William's brother Charles Clark which gives parents as George Clark (labourer) and mother as Jane Clark nee Green. I have found a marriage record for George Clark to Jane Green dated on 15th April 1827 at St Dunstan & All Saints, Stepney. I am unable to read both the witnesses but believe one of them to James Green which could be Janes father. Although the details of the family appearing on 1841 census in Stepney are correct I am still having trouble trying to find them on 1851 census which might give me details of where William and Jane were born. Can anyone help? Thank You
