Mary Report 7 Apr 2007 09:04

Thomas Clark Boilermaker born Belfast married Mary Grier or Greer from Renfrew Scotland in Jarrow there first child was Mary Clark .....but there was a 2/3yr old John son of Mary Grier or Greer he was born in Port Glasgow Renfrewshire.... He was always known as John Clark.....they moved back to Scotland and to Dumbarton it is believed they were RC's they had a son Thomas Clark and possibly two other boys and another daughter either Jean or Jennie Clark they were it believed all trained boilermakers and worked in the Shipyards..... Mary Clark is believed never to have married .... and there was a family story that all the brothers died on an accident on the Clyde when a war ship of some kind was loading ammunition and the like from a lighter ......it swung around and hit a ferry taking shipyard workers across the Clyde ...wether there was an explosion or the Ferry just went down and they drowned is not known John Clark went into the Merchant Navy he was a Bosun travelled to the China Seas mostly ...but after the Birth of his children Mary Ann and Thomas Clark he sometimes stayed at home .....he worked in Smiths Docks both in North Shields and Southbank ......when he died in the 1920's .......a rather Macabre photo was taken of my mother and my gran Elizabeth Ann Clark nee Robinson kneeling at the Graveside in Preston Cemetary North Shields North Tyneside .....possibly to be sent to relatives in Scotland .......Would like to hear from any Clark or Grier/Greer members from Scotland or Belfast ....As John stayed with some relatives in Belfast and worked at Harland Wolff Shipyard .....early 20th Century....
