M. Helen Baker. I am trying to find what became of the family of Thomas Cook of Riccarton, Ayrshire, Scotland. He was born on the Isle of Arran in 1846 and married Jane Blackley on March 15, 1870 at Quarry Lane, Ardrossan. The 1881 census shows them with 4 children - John born ca.1871 in Kilmaurs, Ayrshire, David born ca.1873 in Riccarton, Thomas born ca.1875 in Riccarton and Helen born ca.1880 Riccarton. A picture exists of David taken in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia and it is thought that the family may have emigrated there in the early 1880's. The David Blackley family, of which Jane was the eldest daughter, emigrated to Canada in 1884. Any information gratefully accepted. |
