Find Ancestors

Hi All,
Could someone please help me find Christopher and Harriet Clarke in England. They came to Australia from London 1873 with thier children David 17, John 11, Christopher 9, Marion ellen 7, Frederick William 6, Walter 4 and Samuel 1. I have alot of info after they arrived here.
I am trying to find where abouts in England they were born. Then maybe I can confirm birth dates. Christopher's father was Israel and mother Ellen ( nee Hughes). By the ages on ships records it seems Christopher was born around 1827 and Harriet (nee Forsyth) around 1837. I can't find them on any freecen census. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

There is a difference in age between David the eldest and the next child, so I wonder if in fact Christopher had been married before, and Harriett is his second wife? In this case, David would be the child of the first marriage.


OR they may not have got married until after David's birth.


Obtaining the marriage certificate from www.gro.gov.uk would tell you whether Christopher was a bachelor or a widower at the time of marriage.

I wonder if this is harriet in 1841 with her parents? The 1841 Census does not tell you where a person was born other than in or not in the county where living, and does not say the relationships between people living in the same house
