Hi My Grandfather Cyril Arthur Clarke born 18 June 1911 but I havent got a place - Father died 20yrs ago and no other living relative. Got his service papers but only re-enlistment not when he originally enlisted. he married my Grandmother Winnifred Annie Smith (I know nice easy names!) and they lived in India where my Dad was born. She was a Secretary to the Bishop out there but thats all I can remember can any one help? Brick wall is driving me mad....

i saw that jean ,did you look at the image to see if there was anyone with him?

if you could let us know about when cyril and winnifred married we could maybe find their marriage ref which would give you their fathers names on the certificate if you bought it
also when did they return to the uk?as then we may be able to find them on incoming passenger lists.

On Grandfathers Service docs said he married 29 Apr 1939 but didnt say where!! The information about going out to India sounds right Jo

My father was born in India in 1945 so it was after that (he was only little when he came back)

Without your fathers name we can not look on incoming passengers I am afraid

My Father was Keith Brian Clarke born 1945, he had one brother Ian Clarke and one sister Elizabeth 'Betty' Clarke - All have since passed away so dont know anymore than that I'm afraid - I do remember my Grandmother Winifred known as Annie was the Secretary to the Bishop of Bombay/Calcutta (sorry memory fades!!!)
