Looking for Charles Henry Clarke

Hi all

I have hit a wall in trying to find my GG Grandfather Charles Henry Clarke.

What I do have is his son, who is also Charles Henry Clarke, who was born abt 1839 in Marylebone London. He married Mary Anne Polden 11th March 1861 at Christ church Marylebone. On the wedding certificate is his father Charles Henry whose occupation is (as best I can read it) a coach carver.

I believe senior Charles wife is Maria. In the 1861 census I have Charles junior living with brothers and sisters + Maria in Great Titchfield Street Marylebone, but no reference to Charles senior.

I have been trying to track him down for the last two years so it is getting desperate.

Any thoughts or other ways forward would be greatfully received.

Thanks in advance
John Clarke

To prevent at least 2 of the Maureens getting eyestrain-would you point out the family in 1861.

Wow - I did not expect so many responses so quickly.... Thanks all.

I have a small confession... I have made a typo in the initial confession, it should have read as the 1841 census - not 1861. In the 1861 census he is living with his wife Mary Anne. For the 1841 census I am certain it is the entry as listed by Glitter Baby where he is with his mother Maria.

I can find no reference to the senior Charles in any census though.

Hi June

I am almost certain it is the one you have found in the 1851 census. The age of both Charles senior and junior both tie in.

Strangely I had come across this record over a year ago but had dismissed it because I was previously searching along a blind lead.

Many thanks to you all for helping me solve this one.

Happy hunting for you all.

John
