My grandma Helen Clarke

Genius Report 4 Jan 2010 17:18

My grandma was born in the West Stockwith/Misterton area in 1872. She spelled her name Ellen or Helen Clarke. Her father was George Clarke as shown on her marriage cert. She married Arthur France in 1896 in Rotherham, South Yorkshire where she was living with a family from Misterton named Bristowe. I cannot seem to trace her birth details or if she had any brothers or sisters. I'm not sure if her father came from the Rotherham Area. Would appreciate if anyone can help with further information.

Message from Helen

Thank you for your information regarding Ellen Clarke. It is a possibility that the surname was spelled without an 'e' although the marriage cert has an 'e'
Ellen's father George was a coal miner but was dead by the time she married in 1896. I will try and trace the family you mention on the later census.
