Find Ancestors

I am a little lost, my grandfather was not married to my gran. All i have is Peter Joseph Clarke born 1903 Durham, parents Michael & Ellen.
1911 census living at 22 Thomas St. Middlesbrough
1939 electrol role - 66 Denmark St Middlesbrough. I dont know if he later married or where he died so i am unsure if i have any living relatives. can anyone advise me what my next steps should be.

Yes Jan I was. there is a death for a Peter Clarke in Birmingham in 1976, his birth date fits for the birth reg you found.

I was hoping it wasn't as that would have been another avenue to go down. How much do you know about your grandfather, are you able to check more recent electoral registers than 1939-1950.

It might be that you have to risk that it may not be the right one, order the death certificate to find place of death. you may then be able to check the local newspaper for an obituary notice.

I have searched the electrol role in our local library but as yet i can only find him in 1939 at 66 Denmark st. My dad was born in 1940 and the address of his father is the same.

there are no records during the war and in 1945 they have moved?

I have found 2 deaths in the middlebrough indexes for Peter Clarke (not Peter Joseph) in 1972 & 1980 so i have emailed the office to ask if they were born in 1903
