My Grandfather Patrick Clarke was born in County Cork Ireland. I have conflicting dates for his birthdate, it is said that he was born c. 1872-4. Patrick was orphaned at the age of nine and one half years. Was sent to St. Mary's Orphanage in Nelson New Zealand. The Orpanhange burnt down and records about Patrick were destroyed. From little that I do know, his father was called Patrick, and his mother was Elizabeth Clarke nee Naylor. What happened to his parents and how did he get to New Zealand. Would appreciate any information that could help me with my brick wall. Can't get any further on this line. Marion
