possible family link
I have found a William Collins born in Pershore Worcester age 23 on 1871 cencus his wife is Ann age 22 born in Coventry. I am desperate to know what Ann's Surname is as she could possibly be my gt gt grandmother. Mary Durkin age 5 my gt grandmother is living with them. she is possibly Ann's illigitimate daughter who was later put into an orphanage.
Is Ann her mother ? or was she just looking after her.
Also trying to proove if the Durkin family next door are related either to Ann or Mary

I can't work out what the relationship says on the 1871 census. It certainly doesn't say daughter. I think it might say unmarried and the enumerator has written it in the wrong column.

I've looked for a marriage of William Collins to Ann Durkin and I can't find one. I would definitely by Mary's birth certificate to find her parent's names.

The best way to confirm who her mother is is to buy the birth certificate

neither can I dont know where to go next all I know is Ann is on Mary's birth cert no father mentioned and they lived in Birdport Worcester.

Are you saying that Mary Matilda Durkin's mother was definitely Ann Durkin?

If so then you need to buy the birth certificate of one of William and Ann Collins children to find Ann Collins maiden name and that way you can eliminate Ann Collins from your thoughts about being Mary's mother if her maiden name is something different.
