Can anyone give me more info on my grandfathers famil who were a family of 26 childern To 2 differnt marriges is there any Great aunts /uncles/cousin still alive my grandfather was Robert Collins born 2/4 not sue which year think it might be 1914 please if you have info contact me as i should have a lot of cousins thanks in advance Tracey

Try starting with your parents birth cert, that should give the mothers maiden name

Have you looked on FreeBMD for your Grandfathers birth if he was born in England? Do you know where he was born?

Have you tried 'search trees' on here to see if any are featured in other people's trees?

There are around 60(?) Robert Collins born 1912 to 1916. Need some more clues.

His mother was Mary wark and they lived in Glasgow and his father was Gustafus some of his borther and sister were Jenny Tommy Edith Irere Pearl David Gus all born in Glasgow I think in Partick

There are genes members with Gustavus Collins in their tree. Have you emailed them directly for more information?

Was your grandfather a child of the second marriage then? I ask because that John Wark living with the family in Earl Street (which is in Partick) is listed as Gustavus's father-in-law. So obviously it looks like Margaret, the wife, has the maiden surname of Wark. Was Gustavus's second wife also a Wark i.e. Mary Wark - your grandfather's mother?

d.27Sep1980. His father was Gustav Collins b.c.1868.
My father married Agnes McClure McIlhagga on 4Sep1942.
I have drawn up the McIlhagga family tree and can forward it to you.
It is my belief that my father was one of 25 children born to Gustavus, The only ones I can remember are Evelyn,George, Pearl, Robert, Violet and Albert. I have birth and death dates for Evelyn and Albert and can find the birth and death of Violet. My email is [email protected]
