I am trying to date James Collins death. James was born in 1844 son of George Collins in London and married Emily Hartley b 1844 on 21.08.1862. I know that he was a sailor (his son James Harltey Collins was educated at a mariners school for children of deceased sailors) but I am not sure if he died at sea. Can anyone help with the death date and/or suggestions as to where I can find more information about his sea career. |

The 1851 census identifies George (father) and James . |

There are a couple of possibilities if you search here (if he was in Royal Navy rather than Merchant Navy) |
