Trying to find any information on John Collins or his family. He was born in 1796, Little Dunmow Essex. He married a Mary (surname unknown). Their children, Mary 1827, Eliza 1830, Charlotte 1832, William 1834, Stephen 1837, Emma 1838 and Uriah 1845.
Any info would be great
Thanks Rachael

hi ,me again, that address is WHITE NOTLEY ESSEX
|
Thanks Maureen Thats the family. Any idea how I would go about finding Johns parents, siblings or even Mary's maiden name
|
hi, i have been trawling through the pallotts marriages. hundreds of john collins and quite a few marys but could not find any in essex. The other way to find Mary's name is to buy a birth certificate for one of the children born after 1837. Emma is 3 in 1841 so she could have been born in 1838 and definately Uriah, that will give you mothers maiden name

hi births URIAH COLLINS BRAINTREE ESSEX MARCH QUARTER REG X11 30
EMMA COLLINS BRAINTREE ESSEX MARCH QUARTER REG 12 15
although Uriah's birth is after Emma's his registration is still in original form so he has the roman numerals Emma's entry has been updated and is written in type so her reg. is volume 12 page 15.

Just in case you don't have them:
Results for: Any Event, 1820 - 1840, Essex, England, British Isles Father: John Collins, Mother: Mary International Genealogical Index / British Isles - 4
1. GEORGE COLLINS - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Christening: 29 AUG 1824 White Notley, Essex, England 2. WILLIAM COLLINS - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Christening: 29 AUG 1824 White Notley, Essex, England 3. STEPHEN COLLIN - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Christening: 27 OCT 1835 White Notley, Essex, England 4. EMMA COLLINS - International Genealogical Index Gender: Female Christening: 18 MAR 1838 White Notley, Essex, England
(Searched for births in Essex, no name, father John Collins, mother Mary, 1820 to 1840.)
Unfortunately, all just say John Collins & Mary as parents. It looks like the two boys baptized in 1824 didn't survive, and a later child was again named William. Or George survived and had flown by 1841.
Stephen and Emma appear to match up, although this may give you a more accurate birthdate for Stephen. And for Emma, for finding a birth reg.
Batch number for White Notley marriages: M047541.
There's no John and Mary, and most are later than they were.

And of course, from the unnamed submitter and unidentified source:
JOHN COLLINS Christening: 20 APR 1796 Little Dunmow, Essex, England Father: JOHN COLLINS Mother: MARY
I tend to think that when exact dates are given like that, somebody got them from somewhere, but parish records need to be checked to verify.
All of the other Collins-s in the batch are identified as children of John Collins & Mary as well:
