Looking for family of Mary Ann Cook born about 1829 in Ingleby Green (This was given as birthplace in 1861 census for Easington) Only info is family myth that she was related in some way to the family of Captain Cook (who did live just a few miles up the road from Ingleby Green). She married an Irish miner called Henry McCawley and from about 1855 to 1861-65 they lived in Easington just North of Hartlepoole. They had James 1856; Mary Ann 1859; Joseph 1861. Next place they turn up is Dalziel, Lanark, Scotland where Elizabeth 4yrs dies of whooping cough in 1869 and Henry is born 1871. Daughter Mary Ann has an illegitimate child also Mary Ann born in Burnbank Hamilton in 1880. Son James also marries Elizabeth Mcgloughlin this year in Burnbank. In 1881 Mary Ann marries William Dixon in Larkhall. Family (except James who settles in Burnbank with Elizabeth) next turns up at Candie Pit, Muiravonside, Stirlingshire. If you recognise this family and/or have info on Mary Ann Cook's origins I would love to hear from you |
