I am trying to find any information I can get on the George Cook & family from Bristol. I am at a brick wall at the moment & any help would be grateful. My husbands Grandmother was Ethel Eliza Cook b:1881 Bristol St James. I found the family in the 1881 census living at 10 Eugene St Bristol Father George age 29 b: Guildford Surrey occ: Builder Mother Maria age 28 b:Bishopsgate London. Charles age 6 b: Bristol - William E age 3 b:1877 Bristol - Florence M age 1 b: Bristol. 1901 census: 4 Fox & Crane Ct Eugene St., Bristol George age 38 occ: Freestone Mason Saw+ b: Gloucester Mason - Mary age 36 b: (same as 1881) Charles age 16 occ: Errand Boy -William age 13 - Mabel age 11 - Edith A age 9 - Ethel E age 2 all b: in Bristol 1901 census: 21 College St Bristol George is missing (I prosume he has died) Mary G.W head - maried age 48 occ: Book Server Ethel E age 12 - Walter H age 5. I have searched through the freebmd, I have not found a marriage anywhere of George Cook & Mary Sophia/ Mary G.w / Maria or Marian Sophia in Bristol, London or Surrey. IGI has a birth for William Ernest & Florence Mabel Cook - parents George & Marian Sophia Warner. Ethel's birth certificate has parents as George & Marian Sophia Cook. I need the marriage so I can find out their fathers names before I can find their births. I also can not find the marriage of Ethel Eliza Cook to Joseph James Lattimer b:1885 from Holme Low Cumberland. They were married over in England & came to Canada before 1912, as their first daughter Ethel was b: in 1912 Canada. Joseph James is also missing from the 1901 census. Ethel's sister Edith Alma m: Ernest Henry Cudlip in 1901(Dec26) Church of Parish Knowles Bristol. If anyone has a connection to any of this family, I would be so glad to hear from you. Regards Margaret - I get called Margaret not Dorothy |
