Find Ancestors

Hi trying to find the marriage of my great uncle HERBERT COOPER b1931 i know that he was married to a lady known as Rita believe her name was Margherita need to find details of their marriage. Believe they were in their 40s when they married in the Ipswich Suffolk area. any help appreciated.

It is Margherita's maiden name that I am trying to find out, I know it would be on her marriage cert but would it be on her death cert? thank you!

The birth surname would not be on the death certificate, but the exact date of birth would be, if you do not have that already.

FreeBMD is rapidly progressing into the 1930s. Before long, you will be able to search the births database there, by her given name only -- since it is fortunately pretty unusual, you will probably then find only a few likely candidates and will have surnames to work with as possibles then. You should also have a middle name/initial from the death certificate to help with that search.

The electoral roll does show a Margherita Cooper aged 65+ but apparently not in Suffolk (searching in Suffolk gave no results).

If she was abt 83 when she died, then she was born abt 1925 (older than Herbert by a few years).

for Margherita born 1923 to 1930, there are a couple of Margherita L-s -- 1923 and 1929. That period is still incomplete, of course. Patience is a virtue, lol!

Getting her exact date of birth, from the death cert if necessary, will certainly help in that search (although dates, and especially years, are sometimes not quite accurate on death certs).

The reason i needed to know how old Margherita was cos you had said they married in their 40's and that Herbert was born in 1931, all the 70's have now been look through so now know she was born about 1925 helps to know that we can look in the 1960's rather than the 1980's
