Hi,

This may seem a stupid question, but out of interest I looked up my own marriage in 1990 and can't find it! Are not all marriages available yet?

I've done that, but not there either. We got married in October 1990 - names Liddle/Cooper. I know we got married. I have the photos and memories to prove it.

No. We got married in Glos. in the village church. Would it make any difference that my husband was Australian and I was British/

No difference at all with your husband being Australian Your marriage would still be on the records. maybe it wasnt passed on to the GRO at Southport, some records do seem to have been missed

If it's not listed, do I need to contact an official registrar?

Sophie, had you been married before? If so the marriage would be under your first married name and not your maiden name.

If I were you, I would contact the register office for the district where the marriage took place.

Neither of us had been married before and we are still married. It just seems strange. I do remember that before we married my husband had to meet Some official because he wasn't British. We were married in the village church, but not by the village vicar. We had the previous one to him marry us as he was a family friend, which the current vicar wasn't happy about. Even though he didn't marry us he still wanted the fee. Maybe he didn't submit the paperwork.

I checked and mine is there -1957 !

But I do not understand the arrangement for BMD.is it not possible to trawl through the quarters now ?

Showing only "transcribed by Free BMD" means not all events are there as FreeBMD is not yet complete.

Starr your marriages are listed!!!
perhaps you are putting too much in when you search, try with just both surnames and the year and they both come up

Thank you everyone for your help. I will make some more enquiries. I jokingly said to my husband that we would maybe have to have another wedding, but he remembers the cost of the last one and is unfortunately not interested. Once again, thank you everyone.
