I am researching the family tree of JAMES MANSON COOPER. He was born in Holm Orkney Scotland. He moved to Govan Glasgow the to Port Glasgow in 1901. His father was David Cooper and his mother was Douglas Craigie. They were married in Egilsay Orkney in 1857. His grandfather was Alexander Copper married to Barbara Davie in Orkney 1817. His great grandfather was James Cooper who married Mary Garriock in 1782. I would be interested in anyone still staying in Orkney who is related to them. I am also searching for relatives of his daughter, ANNIE O'NEIL (nee Cooper) who married JOHN O'NEIL in Port Glasgow in 1917. Annie died in 1918 and John died in 1930. Their children were Annie, Charles, James and Catherine, (my mother). They were all born in Port Glasgow but were eventually brought up in Lanark in Smyllum childrens home. Annie and Catherine then brought up their families in Port Glasgow, Charlie moved to Ireland and Jim (Ted) stayed in various places ending up in Saltcoats. Thanks for any information gained, Nina |
