Find Ancestors

Hi there.

I am very new to researching my family tree so I am probably missing something very obvious!

I am trying to find my Great Grandfather, George James Cox but do not know very much about him. I know that he got married to Angelina Florence Huffey in 1913 in Lewisham, London and together they had 5 children, Edgar, George, Joan (Alice), Len and Victor, the youngest being born in Weymouth (more than likely all 5 children born there but can not be 100% certain of that at this time.)

On the youngest son's Birth Cert. it states his father having the occupation as a motordriver, but have been informed by his immediate family that he was a tailor.

Is there any way of finding out anything else about him without the DOB, Place of birth, parents names etc?

Thank you so much to both of you, Andrew and Denis. I have alot of information on my Great Grandmother Angelina Huffey, it was just on my Great Grandfather I was at a loss on.

Sorry to ask a silly question but how exact are the DOB on the Children? As I know that Edgar was born on 22/12/1915. Alice Joan on 07/03/1921. Victor 24/07/1925 and Leonard on 10/11/ but not year of birth. We know he was between Alice Joan and Victor, so 1923/24/25. Also know that the youngest 3 were born in Weymouth but not sure about the eldest 2.

There's a free site- freebmd.

births, deaths and marriages are all in the quarter years. So say Alice was born on 12.12.1913, it would be registered in Jan 1914.
