my mother inlaw born as gwynneth kathleen cox now know as mary was born romford essex address was 1 oldchurch rd as place of birth her mother a kathleen eva cox from 34 cavenham gardens placed her in what was believed to be a place for adoption somewhere near tower bridge in london at 18 months old she later was adopted but always felt she needed her real family but had nothing realy to go on since the passing of her adopted mother she now has proof of her birth and the names of her mother to start her search for any family she may have sadly it has stopped when it got to the point of finding her adoption records much to her shock the legel people involved were un able to find her on any records of adoption so we have hit a wall realy and have no idea forward sadly it means so much to mary to find out if she has any family as being brought up as an only child in a family that was just her and adopted parents no other family at 74 years old she has made it a large part of her life to search to the point of returning to romford and essex her self to almost to the point of knocking on doors any advice for her would be great thanks mike |

Michael, Sorry for the question, but not sure why the adoption record matters - from what you say, your mother-in-law knows her real name and her mother's name, also address, which is all she needs to make a start isn't it? |

I am just a bit confused about her year of birth. You say she is 78 years old, so she should have been born 1931. |

thanks to all again for your help it has been great i did get electoral regester for cavenham gardens and it told us nothing sadly however 1 old church road did show a large number of the cox family living there for a number of years and the fact it was a work house before becoming a hospital i am now looking more into that side of it and the cox's from that address and sheila has in deed found all the info i needed to trace kathleen cox till the point of her death and i thank her for that |
