cox family in stoke dameral devon

can not find joseph cox b1811 devenport(stoke dameral) he married elizabeth (nee green) b 1831 as on 1861census. it says he was a chelsea pensioner. his father was william who was a soldier, as stated on josephs marriage certificate. after 1851 i am ok. just need before that.
