susan birchall looking for any info on the possible location in ireland of my grandfathers family ..my grandfather was william cox born ireland 1875 (definite date) his father was james william cox and the family is in the 1881 census at evans street liverpool he had 2 sisters and 3 brothers and the family were protestant orangemen could this narrow down my search as there seem to be cox families all over ireland can anyone suggest any likely areas to concentrate on ? apparently the family came over to liverpool between 1875 and 1881 would there have been any particular religious or sectarian reason for their emigration at that time ? he married rebecca sargeant and they lived in birkdale.southport around the turn of the century. they had 3 sons at that time william robert.james and john they eventually had 11 children the first three plus cissie sydney bette ernie edith victor and ruth who was my mother and two stillborn sons does anyone have any pointers they could share ....thanks
