Trying to trace Walter Davies my g/grandfather. Walter married Ann Rowlands in 1917 in Tywyn, Meionethshire. At the time of marriage Walter was in the 14th batt South Lancashires and lived in Llanegryn. He died in 1925 aged 32 yrs. His fathers name was Richard Davies a farm labourer. I don't know if Walter was originally from Tywyn as, because he died so young (only 2 yrs after my grandmother was born), no one can remember details. (so sad) I hope someone can help Thanks for looking Polly

Hi Polly. You have been given the 1901 census. Here are some more. The age of Richard is a bit variant but more down to bad census copies.
Marriage of Richard Davies to Harriet Davies. 1879 Oct/Dec Qtr. registered in CLUN. Montgomeryshire. This covers Churchstoke. vol 6a 1091. Copy of this certificate will give you their ages, their Father's names and occupations and witnesses who may be siblings.
1891 census Three Ashes Churchstoke. Mon Richard shown as 42 Query 49. Born Churchstoke. Land Drainer. Harriet 37 Born Wentnor. Shrop Mary A 12 1879. Born Churchstoke Jane E 9 1882 Born Churchstoke
1881 Living Old Churchstoke. Mon Richard 37 Born Churchstoke. Labourer Harriet 27 Born Wentnor. Mary Ann 2 Born Churchstoke.
It is possible that Richard could have been married before and this should show on the marriage certificate if he was a widower, and same with Harriet. Not easy when they both have the same surname. Hope this helps you. Ethel.

Thanks all!! I will take a look at what you've given me. My gut reaction is that the Churchstoke connection seems the most likely. Thanks again Polly
