I am trying to find information on the DAVIES who originally came from Shifnal in Shropshire. According to the 1881 census THOMAS DAVIES - who was widowed - had moved with his daughters SARAH and MARY ANN to Raby in Cheshire.THOMAS is aged 68 on the census and his two daughters are aged 21 and 24 which means that he was fairly old to be starting a family and might, therefore have been married previously. There was also another daughter MARIA who was the eldest of the three by about two years. All three girls married in Cheshire with MARY ANN becoming a HAMILTON (she was in fact my wive's Great Grandmother.) Any help especially on THOMAS' wife or any earlier marriage/children would be greatly appreciated. |
