Davies is quite a common name, there are many families in North Wales with that name, BUT, statistically there should only be one family with the parents Robert & Mary (nee Davies), born 1860-75ish, with children Mary, Hugh, Annie, David, Jennie, (Elizabeth) Myfanwy, Robert, Thomas John, & William, born 1880-1910ish. (William b.03/02/1893-d.28/08/1970, m.05/11/1927 Edna May Griffiths). There is a suggestion that William was a railway plate-layer, but of course that may not always have been the case. The location Pennal features in the few notes I have and the parents Robert and Mary are buried there. Reference to the 1901 census does not produce an exact match to this group which suggests an error in my information, William & Edna seems to be correct on B, M & D certs and resided 3 Pant Golau, Pensarn. The closest match on the 1901 census gives Robert Davies (38) & wife Mary (40) with children Annie (13) David (10) William (8) Jane (6) Elizabeth (probably Elizabeth Myfanwy)(3) Robert (6M), with Thomas John to follow soon, living 28, Felingand, Pennal St Peter. This of course precludes the possibility of some of the children being away from home at the time of the census, one who may be Mary. Robert was the local Pennal builder and died in 1957, he remained a batchelor. He is buried in Pennal with his sister Myfanwy. The name Myfanwy Davies is not such a common name, and if you work back through your family tree and find a Myfanwy (or Elizabeth Myfanwy with the name Elizabeth dropped) born about 1898, and died 1985 a spinster, do her brothers and sisters fall into place with the name group (or similar) I have. She remained a spinster. One of the sisters is a Jennie (Jane ?) Davies, who is shown on a Pennal gravestone as dying 6 July 1919 aged 24, and buried with her parents Robert(1925) and Mary(1941). There appears no record of her in the national index. The suggestion is she was unmarried, but that may not be the case, did she die as a consequence of illness/childbirth. Edna May Griffiths (1904) may have been the daughter of Thomas Griffiths (c.1861) and Mary Jane Humphreys (c.1867), she may have been the daughter of John Humphreys (c.1840) and Mary Ann Jervis (c.1838) Do these family groups mean something to you ? If you would like more of an insight into a possible tree to see if you fit into it have a look at http://www.peter-davies.org which is often updated and where there is much more detail. If you can help me with my quest please contact through genesconnected or www.peter-davies.org. I thank you in anticipation. Peter
