Trying to find Davies

Gwendoline Report 5 Nov 2006 21:30

We are looking for records of our family in Lingen, Herefordshire in the 1830's. Mary Davies was mother to Henry Davies (my husband's great-grandfather), He was born in a workhouse in Stanton Lacey in October 1861. Mother and baby then returned to Lingen. Henry was bought up (from census details of 1871, 1881, and marriage record 1884) by his uncle, William. We have William and Henry living together in Deerfold in 1871 and 1881. William was 80 in 1881. As a young man he was living with John and Elizabeth Davies in Deerfold, Lingen. They were 20 years older than him, and probably his parents. William's brother and sisters were Elizabeth, Ann, Thomas, Jane, Mary and Edwin. We can find no parish records related to births, marriages or deaths, or baptisms, either CofE of non-conformist (Methodist, Chapel, Baptist), only census records until birth of Henry Davies (above). We do not know Henry's father or what happened to Mary, his mother. Any information, help, assistance would be much appreciated as we have come to a halt here. Thanks Paul and Gwen Davies
