Davies/Davis - I am tracing the family tree on my grandmothers side. Her father was John Davis born in Hanley, he married Florence Holdcroft and moved to Rotherham they had two children, Winifred and John. Florence died in 1921 and my grandmother and her brother were bought up by their fathers sister Sarah married to Charles Hibbs, they lived in Charles Street in Hanley. Sarah had a son around 1900 William Davis he lived in Burslem. Sarah and Johns parents were Abraham Davies and Elizabeth Ford (nee Chapman) they lived in Denbigh Street, Hanley according to the 1901 Census. Abrahams brother, Robert also lived in Denbigh Street at the same time, he was married to Jane and they had eight children, Mary, Robert, Annie, Alice, Harriet, Lucy, Benjamine and Nellie. If anyone has any further information that can help with my research I would be grateful. |
