We know Maud Davis married my grandfather in Merthyr Tydfil Dec 1903.She was his first wife. She died in Dec 1906.We are waiting for a marriage and a death certificate. We have an address connected with her 6 King Street Caepantywyll Merthyr Tydfil.Hope fully the certificates might give the answer to this.We don't know whether the couple had any children. Is there any way of finding out?

Just for ref, the marriage as the name appears to be Williams.

Marriages Dec 1903 (>99%)
Davies Maud Merthyr T. 11a 1120
WILLIAMS John Thomas Merthyr T. 11a 1120

Have you found John in 1911 to check if there were any children born between the marriage and death?

Hello Christine

Yes you have the right couple.
By 1911 my grandfather had married my grandmother and the two children shown on that census are the children or that marriage. My Aunt and Uncle.

Maybe the death cert will give you some information as it's possible she died in childbirth as she was only 24.

I'm hoping the certificates will provide the answers. If they don't it may become another of lifes mysteries.

Even if she did die in childbirth it could still be difficult to pinpoint a child with the surname being so common but there was another death registered with the same page no as Mauds.

Williams Laura 0 Merthyr T 11a 418
Williams Maud 24 Merthyr T 11a 418

It could be a possibility but the only way to find out would be to get the cert, that's of course if her death was associated with childbirth.

Thanks Christine

I shall just have to be patient and wait for the certificates. The surnames don't really help. Our other family names include Morgan Morris Evans. It really is a nightmare.

The certificates have now arrived.Inow have an address for Maud at her marriage 24 Clare street Merthyr Tydfil. Her father wasThomas Davies Engineer. The witnesses were Annie and Polly Davies. She was 21 years old.
The death certificate states she died of double pneumonia and cardiac syncope. She died on26th November 1906 aged 24.The informant was Thomas Williams Uncle 5 Well street Cefn Vaynor Brecon. We think this could be the Uncle of John Thomas Williams(Mauds husband)
I have looked on free bmd and family search for Maud and Thomas.Have I missed something or is it another case of certificates.Any ideas?
