I am researching my father's Davis family who all lived in the Spitalfields area of London in the 19th C. They were Jewish but did not appear to be religious, they came originally from Holland. My grandfather was John Davis, My g-grandfather was Joseph Davis born 1865 he married Hannah Solomons in 1890 and had 4 sons inc. John, the others were David, Alfred and Philip, and 1 daughter Elizabeth. My g-g-grandfather was also David Davis he married Julia Jacobs and had 3 sons, the above Joseph, John and Philip and 4 daughters Julia, Amelia, Sarah and Annie They lived in an area of Spitalfields called the Tenterground where many Jews of Dutch ancestry lived. The streets were Whites Row, Shepherd st, Tenter St, Butler St, Freeman St and Palmer St.
