Re Thomas DENNIS, born circa 1819, allegedly in Bristol, arrested in Glamorgan Wales , tried in the Glamorgan Assiz 12 July 1836, transported on the ship Blenheim 16 July 1837. Was a shoemaker, transported for the felony of stealing in a dwelling house in Glamorgan, earlier offense of stealing shoes. On ship records indicates alias Dennisfield or Dennisford - in one place says real name was Dennisfield - ?? Married Janet Cree of Glasgow, also transported to Tasmania, they had 11 children, 10 married, all had children, so there are many Dennis descendants from them here in Australia. I am Sam Dennis, I am great grandson of Thomas. Would like to try and find the UK connections for Thomas Dennis, Dennisfield. |
