John married Mary Newton c1783 - children born in Jedburgh - Gabriel 1784 a Watchmaker and Proprietor of the Portland Arms in Troon and a Vintner in Irvine; Walter 1786 a Master Watchmaker and Jeweler in Muirkirk, Old Cumnock and Galston, Ayrshire, and Dollar, Clackmannon; Jean 1788 who married John Lamont a Weaver in 1806 in Galston; Christian 1789 who married John Aitken in 1808 in Galston and John 1794 a Master Watchmaker in Greenock, Renfrewshire
