Hi
I am trying to find any information regarding the Edwards family name from Somerset. The only names that I have so far are Elizabeth b1788, d1827 and her sister Amity c1800, d1888. Is there anyone that can help me please?

Surely you haven't started at the 18th century?

You must have worked backwards, generation by generation................

What leads you to say that these women were sisters?

Hi Catherine

Sorry I don't know where in Somerset, other than the man she married, a James Selway was born in Wellow, Somerset. This leads me to believe that it would probably be near to there.

Hi Ericthered

No of course I never started in the 18th Century. I'm actually following my family line, which is the Selway line, this has lead me to the marriage of James Selway and Elizabeth Edwards. I was given the information about Amity by another member.

Thank you for the information and am I to take it that I have the wrong surname? Or are you telling me that I am completely wrong altogether?

No I'm not doing anything other than copying the available info from Ancestry........

Presumably, Smith was her married name............

The snag is, that there is no census info for Amity Smith.........although I imagine that the forename could be mistranscribed.

You may care to search for her in 1881.....it's free on www.familysearch.org (you probably know that!)

Have Edwards in Somerton Somerset, Charles married a Lewis and William was one of their sons. Lots of them were still there in 1920/30 cos my father in law used to visit with his parents. Don't know if this is the same line. Hope it helps.

Thank you for the info but although I have said Somerset, it's further North that my family line come from, up around the Radstock area, so there isn't a link. Once again thank you for trying.
