Hi all

I am now trying to find anything out about my G grandfather Henry.

I know very little about him other than the following.

He had a son William Henry Edwards (B1896 ish) and William married Ada (middle name i think is Bertha) Johnson born 1904.

Henry on the marriage certificate is stated on 2nd April 1923 to be "Army Pension"

There is a wild rumor within the family that he might have been injured quite horrifically in WW1 and was offered money to donate his body to medical science when he died. I understand that he should not have survived what ever it was that happened to him????

Any help would be appreciated.

The above information is currently all i have.

Thanks

This is the only birth that comes up on Ancestry's transcribed index for that name:-

Name: Henry Benjamin Edwards
Year of Registration: 1873
Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun
District: Pancras (1837-1901)
County: London, Middlesex
Volume: 1b

He would be about the right age to have a son in 1896 ish.

Crikey.

Thanks for a very fast response.

You are correct that the marriage is as you state and we/they are Lincolnshire families.

I never met my Grandfather William so i can not say whether they/he originated from Lincs. It does appear my Grandmother Ada Johnson is a lincolnshire lass though.

If William was a bit younger than you thought then this birth would fit the timescale after the marriage I found:-

Name: William Henry Edwards
Year of Registration: 1899
Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep
District: Fulham
County: Greater London, London, Middlesex
Volume: 1a

Grandad William died in Q4 1962 and was ages 66.

So definately 1896 give or take 1 year.

I am vague on Grandad and thought it might be easier to find G Grandad and work towards today from there.

Ages on death certificates can be out by quite a bit as it all depends on the informants knowledge.

I have some death certificates where the age is out by up to 5 years.

Even my grandmother's headstone has her age out by 2 years (and my grandfather ordered it, so I don't think he ever knew her exact age). They both lied on their marriage certificate - he took 3 years off his age and she added 5 years to hers, I think this was to disguise the fact that there was 19 years between them. Perhaps he thought she had only added 3 years to her age and that is why the headstone is wrong.
