Wishing Report 17 Aug 2009 21:38

Hi, I am tryimg to trace a long lost person from my life. He was born a son of Marjory Joyce Gray in October 1952. He was adopted by Phylis and Eric Edwards, and given the name Miahael John Edwards. They lived at the time in East Mosley Surrey. Eventually they all moved to Devon, I would like contact with Michael just to know how life is treating him. Any one with info please contact me.
I do know he worked at Ockham Mill Farm for a time in Surrey
Thank you.

Have you tried a search on this site, friends reunited or facebook - there are some members on this site who offer to do electoral roll look ups.

Do you happen to know the full names of Phyllis and Eric? - middle names or initials?

You know MJE's birth name? and you have searched trees here at GR for both names, I'm sure. Do you know where he was born?

With just a little more info about Phyllis and Eric it might be possible to identify their marriage, and then find family members. The marriage certificate shows their ages and fathers' names, and then if their births could be identified, the births of any siblings could also be found. And that would give more lines to trace, for adopted cousins of MJE, etc.

Is "East Mosley" actually "East Molesey"?

Aargh, I think I found the marriage, after looking at all Eric Edwards marriages in Surrey 1932-1952, and it being the one I had to go back and do a double search on because the bride had two surnames.

Because they may well be living, I am going to PM the Q2 1951 marriage in Wandsworth to LT.

Probable birth details for adoptive parents also PMed, with info about how to find their siblings' births at FreeBMD. The more rellies to look for, the better. ;)

Sorry I have not replied but my computer went down,
Erice and Phylis have both died. It is Michael John Edwards who I am wishing to locate. I last heard of him living at Ockham in Surrey.
Thanks for all your help.

Longtoothed, we aren't really stupid here, y'know?

The idea is: if Phyllis and Eric Edwards have living family, the family members would likely know where their adopted son is. So having more details about Phyllis and Eric could enable you to find Michael's adoptive family.

I sent you two private messages with information I believed would be useful, about the families of the two individuals. I spent not a little time on it, in an attempt to provide the help you had requested.

I see you have not had the courtesy to reply.

Good luck, eh? Like I care.
