Would anyone with Ancestry access be able to do a look up for me please? I am trying to find out more about Albert EDWARDS b.c1887 Surrey (possibly Walton-on-Thames area) such as who he married and if he had any siblings. He was the first husband of my grandmother and he died before I was born.
His parents were possibly Alfred Edwards c1871 Walton and Florence Lawrence c1871 Surrey.
Any information, however small, would be very much appreciated!

what was your grandmothers name?

You can probably find her marriages on FREE BMD yourself

Possible? But Albert was born 1897 not 87.
1901 census
Bridge St., Walton on Thames, Surrey
Alfred Edwards, head, 30, dairy manager, born Surrey, Hersham
Florence, wife, 30, born Walton on Thames
Albert, son, 4, born Surrey, Weybridge
Plus 2 servants.

No, something's wrong! On the 1891 census Alfred Edwards, age 20, milkman, born Hersham, Surrey is still single.

Hi Gillian

I have found an Alfred & Florence Edwards on the 1901 census. They have a son Albert(o) aged 4 - this would mean he was born in 1897. Both Alfred & Florence are 30. Alfred was born in Hersham and Florence in Walton on Thames. Albert was born in Weybridge but they are residing in Walton in 1901. Alfred is a dairy manager.

Does this sound like a match? If so, I will look up more info for you, but please confirm if you think I am on the right track.

Kim.

I know the family lived in Hersham for a while so it could be possible.
My grandmother's name was Elsie BARNETT b1902 Surrey (actual birthplace in Surrey unknown). She was married to Sydney Smith b1898 Chertsey but also had another marriage, possibly two. It has been suggested to me that her husband was Jack Edwards c1900 poss.born London, but I know she would often refer to "ALBIE"

I don't understand, Gillian, you said at first that your grandmother's first husband was Albert born 1887, Walton on Thames, now you say he was Jack born 1900, London.

Jack Edwards c1900 was a name suggested to me by some old family members, not totally reliable and now dead so I can't check further. I heard recently from another person with connections to this Smith family and on their tree they had a Albert Edwards c1887, they don't know who he married. I have often found that brothers and sisters from one family married brothers and sisters of a family they knew well so starting thinking perhaps there might be a connection, that's why I thought that if I could find a marriage for this Albert Edwards it might prove or disprove this idea! Albert's father Alfred was born in Walton which would put him in the right sort of location. Since I have memories from when I was very tiny of my grandmother talking about Albie, I was wondering if they could in fact be the same person, maybe Jack was a nickname or a middle name?

Forgot to mention, the marriage info looks correct, that would be my dad's father. Many thanks!
Sorry I'm so vague about a lot of this, I was quite young when these grandparents died and my parents are also both dead, hard to get any useful information from anyone else in the family.
