Find Ancestors

I know Jessie Florence Evans married Ebenezer White on 31st May 1914 (she was a widow then Shuttleworth) and on this she says she is 33 years old. So I am guessing that she was born in 1881 but I cannot find her birth. They were married in Old Ford London and she married Joseph Shuttlworth in Poplar London in 1901.

Her fathers name was Thomas Evans (he was deceased by 1914)

Can anyone help me locate her birth? or indeed her death?

Thanks hugely for any help I am really struggling and she is my dads grandmother and we lost trace of her.

Would it be worth buying her first marriage cert to see if there is any further father info ? Does it say what his occupation was?

It looks as if it could be the right one as Judith Evans, from the 1881, in 1871 has a father Thomas, a cane worker.

WOW - you lot are amazing. i have ordered her first marriage certificate (her first husband and young son both Joseph Shuttleworth died on the same day in 1909) - have ordered them too

Her father was a stick maker so that entry looks accurate

I agree her father being a cane worker matches. I cannot see which birth you are referring too.. I am so new soo sorry

Have gone through all this slowly trying not to get tooo excited but I think you have them buttoned down and she got pushed pillar to post with sisters until she married in 1901

The birth in 1876 looks as if it's the right one and she is just as Jessie in 1881 with a sister Judith.

She could have reduced her age a bit on marriage if her husband was younger, lol

Re finding it on Genes - I plugged in 1871 census and Judith Evans and it just comes up with no searches - which search website do you use?

I use Ancestry, if you can't find it on GR, pm me your email address and I'll send you the image, but will be later this afternoon as going out now.

Just tried on GR using Catherine and it brings her up, so hopefully she's been mistranscribed and you should be able to see the family on the image.

I lose track of Jessie in 1915 after she has Alfred my grandad and her husband runs off.

She is living in 230 Homerton High Street, London when Alfred is born and then I cannot find her. She is Jessie White now (late Shuttleworth and nee Evans) born in 1876 in mile End
