Find Ancestors

Hi,
I am trying to find any information about my father George Evans born Stocksbridge Sheffield on the 30th of august 1938/39(this info is sketchy) but i am struggling, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have his birth cert? what are you hoping to find ?
A marriage cert would give his age and fathers name

No i don't have his certificate the info is from my mother and my birth certificate and i am not too sure if he is still alive,i am just curious to know if he is alive,dead,his family and that sort of thing.

No middle initials I'm guessing? If he was born where you say the registration district would be Wortley, but the only one was born 1944. There are a couple of Sheffield ones too.
What about his father's name?

Thanks Jan, the only real info i have is on my birth certificate which says Stocksbridge Sheffield, the birth date is from my mother and she wasn't sure which year.

Were George and your mother married?
If so his fathers name should be on their marriage cert.

Rather unusual to have your fathers birth place on your birth cert,that is not normally included.

There is a death of a George Evans in Yorkshire in 1989 who was born 30/8/1935.
That is the only one showing born on 30th August born around that time.

Well, she is most likely right about the birthday rather than the year. This would mean the birth was most likely registered in the 3rd or 4th quarter of the year.

Hi, my mother and father were married in Middlesbrough as far as i know not sure of the year though , My birth certificate has place of birth for both parents as well as my fathers occupation on it as well.

You need that marriage cert. If you tell someone on here her maiden name we can have a look. Send by PM (click on the name).
With such a common name you have very little chance of finding out anything about him without it.

The marriage cert will also give you his age at the time of marriage.

If you give your mothers name and maiden name ,by Private Message if you prefer, the marriage year and refs could be found to send for it ,if your mother no longer has it.

Just before I really do go.

The marriage cert may have some Evans family as witnesses on as well as his age and fathers name and occupation George.
That would help even more..
