Can anyone help?
I was wondering how I find Eliza Hester Evans (born abt 1849 in Southampton) mother's maiden name as
I have Triggs based on the 1851 census where Emma born Chichester)is living with her dtr's and her sister Elizth Triggs with her husband away (wife of a mariner) I'm wondering if I've been barking up the wrong tree. An Emma Triggs is living with her parents (both Francis!) and sister Elizabeth in the 1841 census.
I had Eliza's father as William but I now can't find my evidence- I know I struggled but found a William Evans who married an Emma Jane Heath in 1845
Help!

How do you know that the Emma Triggs and Elizabeth are living with their parents in 1841 - there are no relationships given on that census?

You could always buy her birth certificate - that way you will be sure of her parents' names.

I put Emma Triggs in and asummed (probably wrongly) the 2 adult Triggs found with an Emma Triggs and Elizth aged 6m were parents

Found on IGI - would possibly fit

Marriage of William Evans to Emma Jane Heath 15 May 1845 All Saints Southampton
Baptism - Fanny Evans 14 March 1847 St Marys Southampton
Eliza Hester Evans 25 December 1849 St Marys Southampton

Both children of William and Emma Evans

Thank you. It certainly does look like a probable fit
Very grateful

I wonder if Emma and Eliza are actually sisters of one of the Francis - just looking at the age gaps?

I'd never thought of that
I couldn't find the Triggs again so I wonder if all but Elizabeth and Emma died and Emma took Elizabeth in
I think I shall have to get Eliza's birth certificate to get a definitive maiden name and father

Just an update about a success
I've now had sight of Eliza's birth certifiacte and her mother is in fact Emma Jane Heath & father William Evans. Have even seen a copy of the marraige certificate
It's really opened up this side of my tree!
Many thanks for all your help everyone

That's good news Alison - nothing to beat getting the certificates and working from facts.

Good Luck with your research.
