My name is Paul Evans & I am searching for ancestors of my GG Grandfather William Evans of Glamorgan, Wales, born in 1809. With the help of the Glamorgan Record Office & Family History Centre I have traced him back as far as his Great Grandfather JOHN EVANS born about 1724 married MARY (maiden name unknown) before 1750, and died in June of 1768, St. Cattwg, Gelligaere, Glamorgan. Their son WILLIAM EVANS about 1750 married MARY DAVID November 11, 1771 in St. Cattwg Gelligaere, Glamorgan, Wales, daughter of EDWARD DAVID and UNKNOWN ?? William died in Nov of 1780 at the age of 30 years, is buried at St. Cattwg, Gelligaere. Their son GEORGE EVANS born 1777 in St. Cattwg Gelligaere, Glamorgan, Wales, and died November 8, 1852 in Fleur de Lis, Wales (at St. Cattwg). He married MARGARET RHYTHERCH May 28, 1798 in St. John's Church, Cardiff, Wales. She was born 1777 in St. John, Cardiff, Glamorgan, Wales, and died April 25, 1841 in St. Cattwg Gelligaere, Glamorgan, Wales. My GG Grandfather, son of GEORGE EVANS & MARGARET RHYTHERCH, born 1809 in Glamorgan, Wales, baptized 1817 at St. Mabon Church, Parish Llanfabon, migrated to Canada in approx 1826 & there are 5 subsequent generations of EVANS in Canada. If any of this sounds familiar I would love to exchange info on following generations Thank you. Paul |
