Trying to find Evans

Looking for any information on William Evans, born C.1846 in the British Army Garrison in Halifax, Nova Scotia. After returning to UK he married a Welsh lady called Mary from Swansea (dob c.1848) and had at least 3 children, William G. (1877) George H (1879) and Ann B (1880). The last evidence I hav e of this family is an address in St. Paul, Minnesota, which no longer exists, 208 cor. Maple and Conway. They appear in the Uk on 1881 census but not on 1891, unfortunately this means if they went to US by the normal route they missed the Ellis Island experience and as such are not on the web site. Any ideas would be gratefully received!
